Small Businesses Tax Law Workshop announced
STILLWATER, Okla. – The Oklahoma Tax Commission is conducting a workshop for new and existing businesses. This workshop is sponsored by and will be held at Meridian Technology Center for Business Development in Stillwater, Okla. on Jan. 11, 2007 from 9 a.m. to noon.
This workshop will instruct participants on proper business registration, tax reporting, tax bookkeeping and tax exemptions.
Topics that will be covered include new business registration; business tax report form completion; sales and withholding record-keeping requirements; and sales tax deductions, exemptions and vendor responsibilities.
“Statistics show that a lack of knowledge concerning tax laws and the associated rules and procedures is a major reason for tax delinquencies among businesses,” said Vické Adams, MTC small business management coordinator.
The workshop will be led by Dewey Brandon of the Oklahoma Tax Commission will lead the workshop.
“This workshop will be of great value to many of our new start-up food companies,” said Chuck Willoughby, FAPC business planning and marketing specialist. “As we have stressed many times in our Basic Training workshop, adequate business planning to include learning as much as possible about the many facets of owning a small business can only save businesses money in the long run – only help to make sound decisions.”
The fee is $10, which covers materials and a continental breakfast. Space is limited and advanced registration is required.
