Public meeting to be held Feb. 23 to discuss new criteria of Valley Proteins Inc. service contracts
A public meeting has been scheduled at the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry to discuss new service criteria and service contracts between meat processing facilities that slaughter beef animals and Valley Proteins Inc., the waste-removal (rendering) company servicing the western two-third of Oklahoma and portions of Texas.
The meeting will take place Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, from 10 a.m. to noon in the ODAFF boardroom, located at 2800 N. Lincoln Boulevard in Oklahoma City.
The intention of the meeting is to discuss the criteria of a new services contract presented to the processing sector by Valley Proteins Inc.
The target audience for the meeting is meat-processing facilities that slaughter and process beef animals. Processors that do not slaughter beef animals are not affected by the new service contract criteria.
A list of preliminary questions addressing the new criteria has been submitted to Valley Proteins Inc., and representatives will discuss those topics. Additionally, prospective attendees may submit questions prior to the meeting.
You may submit your questions to Jacob Nelson, Robert M. Kerr Food & Agricultural Products Center value-added meat processing specialist, via email at jacob.nelson@okstate.edu.
Additional questions and discussion from the audience will be received if time is available.
